How to distinguish natural silk from fake?

It is quite easy to distinguish natural silk from fake. Each seller must responsibly inform the buyer when the product is made of 100% silk and when it is unnatural. But here's how you can easily find out for yourself:

All you have to do is burn a few threads of that fabric with a lighter. Real silk will burn with a flame and emit the smell of burning hair and wool. Polyester, unlike silk, will melt reluctantly, viscose will smoke and smell like burnt paper, plastic.

If you rub a burnt piece of silk between your fingers, it will crumble to ashes, which will not happen with artificial.

When natural silk is pressed against the cheek, the fabric warms up immediately, which will not happen with artificial silk - it will remain cool as before.

Natural silk fabric will be soft on both sides, unlike synthetic - expect roughness on the bad side there.

Water drops will easily slide on the surface of natural silk without being absorbed, and they can be carelessly wiped off by hand. In complete contrast to rayon, it will absorb any liquid that leaves stains.
